There is no better way to get out of your comfort zone than by participating in Exceed’s Emerge Art Program. Equipped with a paint brush, a blank canvas and a few general techniques, artists are on the way to finding their hidden creativity.

📷Angel Machado is used to people telling her what to do. As a participant in the art program, Angel receives very little direction. It has taken some getting used to.

“I struggled at first because what I have in my head doesn’t always go as planned,” said Angel. “Lynn is a good teacher and even though she is hard sometimes she makes you do your own thing.”

Lynn Papazian is the Art Lady at Exceed. She is quick to complement Angel and all the participants for stretching their artistic abilities.

“Angel is a champion,” said Lynn “She is doing something that is terrifying and against her way of doing things. But she as stuck with it and has the courage to go down that path.”

Angel is donating all funds from the sale of her art to help Exceed with transportation needs and also assist kids and families at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

“Angel is giving back and raising money for others,” added Lynn. “And in the process she started experiencing immense amounts of self-discovery.”

Self-discovery is what the Emerge Art Program is all about. Artists get to see what they are capable of and they have a chance to make a few dollars in sales. But most important it’s the self-confidence they receive that will help them in all aspects of life.
